A rough couple games for the Yanks starters, one really rough start for Beckett. Detroit has a scary team this year with Fielder and Cabrera in the middle of the order. Things will shake out for the Yanks and Sox soon enough, get the bumps out of the way early.

Welp.. a lost weekend, shameful start for both clubs. Sox finally score some, but the pen drops a win or two. Yanks looked horrible vs. Hellickeson. So far, starters have all been ugly. Maybe starting from behind is good for these two.

The only one I give props too at this point is Lester. That's all. |

I didn't get to see either game yesterday, from the looks of it the Sox' game was interesting to say the least. Wow is all I can say to that!
Yanks worst start since 1998? If history is any kind of indicator I'll take it. Means 114 or so wins to look forward to! |

Hubna!!! I'm predicting the B's sweep the Caps. Hoping my Blackhawks can take care of the Coyotes.

That closer for the Jays was B-R-U-T-A-L to say the least. Good hitting by Pedroia though. If he didn't get the bat on the ball it woulda taken out his teeth.

What's up hs? Looking forward to the Stanley Cup playoffs for sure. B's had Senators' number all season long....but fared well against the Caps for the most part.....not sure about a sweep though. Blackhawks showing gutsy play and should take care of the Coyotes. The Canucks look pretty potent though.

Everyone is picking the Canucks to take care of LA with ease. I'm going the other way. I think the Kings will take it to seven games against them and surprise everyone!
Caps have zero depth, so maybe they squeek out a win but I'm thinking the B's sweep. Hawks have been like a bunch of zombies for the most part since Toews went down. They lost their one-two punch, makes it too easy for teams to cover Hossa and Kane. It'll be tough, I'm not holding my breath on this one. |

Bring back game threads - Be civilized. Progress notes... Stretching out Daniel Bard as a starter may be painful. Ready: Sweeney, Punto, Ortiz, Pedroia, Gonzales. + Lester Not Ready: Youk, other starters and pen. |

Yeah they do seem to breed a certain type of poster, I have noticed though and sure you as a Yank fan have also. They seem to come out in droves when you're team is losing and quietly lurk in the shadows just waiting , holding their breath for the first sign of a screw up. Most importantly I notice is that 90% of them are not even a fan of the team you're up against. 2 % are and the other 8% are (Sorry, but sure you get the same from my fan base) are Yankee fans. Not real baseball fans in my book, just haters. Go figure huh? Sox are 1-5 heading back to Fenway with Beckett on the mound. Meh, we'll see if he can tone it down and the bats wake the heck up and get us to 2-5. Can't get any worse then last place, and we are already there. |

I hear ya 25. You get some serious discussions, even some funny observations from people and next thing you know the chat is getting inundated with "fans" looking to take shots at certain teams. I saw it on both the Sox and Yanks games the past couple nights. Too bad, have some fun people worth chatting with but it just becomes more annoying than anything. Oh well, guess the after chat will have to do.
With that said, nice to get home and see the Yanks win in extra innings last night. Tough loss for the Sox today, got to see most of it, Romero was on his game for a change against the Sox. Lester was no slouch either, good pitching duel. Hope the real CC shows up for the Yanks tonight to help them get to the .500 mark. The one thing I've seen (or not seen) from the Yanks which I was really hoping for is Teixeira figuring out how to be a hitter again. So far he's just as bad as the past couple seasons. He'll probably end up with decent power numbers again but nowhere near the hitter he is supposed to be for the money the Yanks are paying him. |

Hey! It's opening day at Fenway (and NY), where's the love????
1. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF 2. Dustin Pedroia (R) 2B 3. Adrian Gonzalez (L) 1B 4. Kevin Youkilis (R) 3B 5. David Ortiz (L) DH 6. Darnell McDonald (R) LF 7. Cody Ross (R) RF 8. Mike Aviles (R) SS 9. Kelly Shoppach (R) C To this I'd ask.... no Sweeney? A gorgeous day, smell the grass (no Hans, the mowed stuff), grab a hot dog - no, grab 3 or 4. Price vs. Beckett, tense. Low scores 'till the later innings, I'd say. Then? all hell breaks lose. Baseball is back, regardless of the outcome. At Home. ...In a ballpark outdoors (as Brando says) Chime in, rooters. |

You called that one right Statguy..8 run 8th inning ..Nice Home opener for the Sox. Price was pulled in the third inning, just wasn't his game today.. Beckett 1k 1 run 8 innings pitched.. too long of a wait between innings or he might have gone the 9th too. Congrats on your home opener too. heard it was a good one. |

Your bats were working, RS25, and Beckett was ok. It was strange he had only one K thru 8 or so,wondered about the thumb. More worried about Ellsbury, hope for no collarbone issue. But the day was as it should be, domination and sunshine.
On the NY side, Kuroda was philthy <- main plus. A-rod, Grandy Hrs, Swisher redeemed a bit by a 3 run double early. Pen has been lights out. When are we going to do a game thread here? |

------- err..... not so fast there, Hs. Looks as thought it was a bit less than good for the Sox - Ellsbury out 2 months, shoulder. What a tough break on a slide into 2nd. Ouch and hope he mends fast, we have some games to play together. Sweeney is the backup? Hitting, at least. |

---- HS, I think we should settle for a nodding acknowledgement or a tip of the cap. Praises may be a long wait... and then again, I shutter to think of RSF25 singing... praises or whatever. Begrudging respect, I can do. Occasional 2 part harmony.. a nice counnterpoint maybe. Sox dominate Rays, bats bash, Tidal Bay pen runs out of ink. Those cheap ballpoints. Wait till next weekend? Ye olde Game thread! |

You may be right Stats, maybe I'll lay off the subliminal messages for a bit. Looking forward to spending a Sunday night watching the Yanks, then heading down to the Bronx for tomorrow night's game.
Two tickets for the game...$14 Parking...$35 Dinner at the Tavern...$28 Not spending a dime on stadium food...priceless!!! |
