Prayers

Haven't been here in a while.  My Mom, Rebecca is in the hospital in Maryland.  She fell down and was not discovered for two days!  She lives alone primarily because she is a hoarder-  which is a disease.  Her whole house is FULL of junk and nobody can walk in there.  Even the EMT guys couldn't get a stretcher in.  So her kidneys failed.  And she can't talk now-  but that could change after a few days.  She could get back to normal.  And maybe she can or we can finally deal with the hoarding problem.  My sister and niece actually had her dog put to sleep today since it was in such a pathetic state.  (I live 3000 miles away.)

If other people were living in her big house-  she wouldn't have been alone on the floor for two days but her hoarding disease prevents that.  Before her haording got so bad-  she actually rented rooms to foreign Doctors and nurses who visit NIH.  So they would have discovered her before two days.

But every time we tried to clean up the house and take things to the dump-  she fights like mad to save all her treasure-  just like on the tv shows.  So she really almost died from the disease.  And my niece said a similar event already occured in the past.

Oddly enough, she is actually a health care professional (whch apparently is quite common.)  But mostly every room and bathroom is put beyond use-  the doors don't even open.

Even though she is in the mental healthcare field-  she is in complete denial that she has any problem.  Just needs "to clean up."

Yeah, but she keeps buying stuff-  no garage sale or yard sale is safe! Hopefully, this time it will change.  Assuming she recovers.

All prayers appreciated.

IIpapaII, I will keep your Mom and your family in my prayers.  Not everyone can stay home and live with aging parents and it is sad she was alone, but understandable with the hoarding problem.  She wouldn't be the first person in the mental health care field who had an addiction/compulsion problem; in fact, it isn't unusual.  Denial is a powerful thing.  Prayers for you as well; you are facing quite a challenge in helping her through this.  The Lord will see to her heart and mind and to her healing; listen carefully to what He says to you about resolving this challenge.  We are never without hope.

For everyone who has prayed for my friend Tony M.'s mother, she went home to be with the Lord at 6:30 a.m. today (Wednesday).  Tony is seeing to the arrangements.  Please continue to hold him and his family up in prayer for strength, comfort, and healing the hurt of the loss.

My love to all my brothers and sisters here,
Sissy

Hey Guys,

I have never posted here but stop by occasionally to check up and really appreciate the spirit of the thread.  My purpose in finally posting is to post a praise.  My wife went to the dermatologist to get a spot checked out and it did come back cancereous.  However it rated a zero which is extremely early and can be surgically removed with 100% recovery rate without radiation or chemo.

We turned 40 this year and it is starting to register that we are not invulnerable anymore but praise our heavenly father our lesson was taught very lightly.  I encourage everyone to go get themselves checked and have physicals if you haven't had one in a while so that you can lead a healthy life.

I am so thankful to God for my family and our health he has blessed us more than we deserve!

Hey Pops,

Great to see you back, brother!  I'm very sorry to hear about what is going on with your mother.  I'm praying for her full & speedy recovery that our God alone can bring.  Also praying that He uses this to deal with the hoarding.  We know He can!  You, your mom, sister and niece and all family are lifted up.  The greatest thing is that He is in control!

Sis,

I'm so sorry about your friend Tony M.'s mother.  Praise the Lord that she is whole now.  Tony and his family are in my prayers during the horrible process of grieving.  Thank you for letting us know, sweet sister.

Turkey,

Welcome, brother!  It's awesome to see you here, and that's awesome news in your post!  Shows the grace and mercy our Father is full of, and the way He loves to pour it out.  I'm very happy to know that this will be a complete success.  God is good!  Thank you for posting it here, too.  God obviously had a plan besides healing your wife, to let that testimony show how important it is to look after ourselves.  That is definitely important, since our bodies are His temple!

May God bless y'all and everyone else here.

I will add my praise to Wild Turkey1's praise!  Mom was released from treatment today; the ulcers on her leg have all healed and she is free to resume activity.  I took Mommy out for her first driving lesson--we drove 7 miles to town and shopped for food (yes, the roles do reverse when you get over 60 years of age! lol).  She did fine and is praising God for being able to be active after 14 months.  I also agree with Wild Turkey1 to get check ups.  Mom still has some spots of skin cancer that she will have to decide whether to go through more surgery on, as well as needing to talk to the vascular surgeon about the bypass surgery on her legs.  I wanted her to get some "doctor time off."  Then we will take up the next steps.  Pray for guidance for us to arrive at God's best plan for her.  At 85, she may not want to go through more surgery.

My biopsies came back showing only infammation of the GI tract.  Had I NOT gotten the endoscopy done when the pain became intense, I would have had more bleeding ulcers develop; praise God that I can be treated with medicine and not another surgery (and a soft diet again).  In two months, the doctor will decide if he wants a CT scan of my abdomen since liver and pancreatic cancer were found in my grandmother, father, his brothers, and his sisters.  Once again, keeping our bodies (God's 'temple' as Hogfan rightly calls it) as healthy as we can is a blessing from God.

May your all be blessed abundantly this marvelous Easter season!  Much love to you all and a warm greeting to Wild Turkey1, it's great to see you here!

Be God's!

April 5, 2012 5:10 pm

Everyone have a wonderful Good Friday tomorrow (won't be on-line tomorrow) and a meaningful Easter.  Having a wife and two young daughters in my house Easter can lose its true meaning pretty quickly once they start to get dressed (Devil works his hardest on Sunday's)!  I have said for years that we should all take the money we would spend on new Easter clothes and give it to the poor and wear sack cloth on Easter but I just can't get anyone to buy in on that one.

Anyway I will remember this group and the requests on this thread and keep them in my prayers.

Praise:  Through the power of prayer the father of a lady in our Sunday school class was healed of cancer through chemo and radiation and was saved from extensive surgery.  I praise this development and pray that his health continues.

Prayer:  Health amd happiness to all those that are close to us and espeically the health needs that have been brought up in this thread, Sis's mom, Paula and others.  I am still praying for wisdom and hoping that one day some of it sticks.  I am thankful for this tread and for the inspiration it produces.

Amen

Here is a little bonus post I ran into this weekend and thought it was a great way to view things:

Law of the Garbage Truck

One day a man hopped into a taxi and it took off for the airport.  They were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of them.  The taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded and missed the other car by inches!  The taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy very warm and friendly.

The passenger asked:  “Why did you just do that?  This guy almost wrecked your car and sent us to the hospital!”  This is when the taxi driver explained “The Law of the Garbage Truck”.

Many people are like garbage trucks they run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger and full of disappointment.  As the garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you.  Don’t take it personally.  Just smile, wave, wish them well and move on.  Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.  Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so…Love the people who treat you right and pray for the ones that don’t.

"Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored."
2 Thessalonians 3:1

Prayer is vital for the success of the preaching of the word of God.  It creates an atmosphere favorable for the word to accomplish its purpose.  God's word will not return void but will accomplish that purpose for which it was sent out.  We participate in that process by praying for those with whom we will share the gospel and connecting with people whose paths we cross in a positive way so that sharing our good news can be done with people who see God's love in us.

Dear Lord God, help us to prepare the ground with our prayers so Your word will take root in people's hearts and produce a great harvest. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Please remember that the National Day of Prayer is May 3.  Make plans to fit prayer time into that day as well as praying up to that day.

Be God's!

Prayers

April 24, 2012 11:37 pm
Hey everyone, I have a prayer request.  Someone I love very much who is very dear to me is battling a number of health issues.  I'm not close enough to her (in distance) right now to be able to talk to her daily, but as often as possible.  She's only 28 years old, and part of the problem is her having dealt with diabetes since she was a baby.  That is making the rest even harder on her body.  She is dealing with liver trouble and receiving treatments for that, while having to take a lot of medication.  She is in and out of the hospital constantly.  The doctors say it's wearing on her kidneys (with the help of the diabetes) and could end up needing transplants if the medicine and treatments don't work.  She is very weak, and her body is tired.  Depression is getting to her, but she does manage some light-heartedness.  She "crashes" often, when her blood sugar bottoms out, and that too puts her in the hospital, on top of the liver trouble.

My main concern (on top of her health even) is that I can't know for sure, but I am pretty sure that she isn't saved.  Since I talked to her this morning and found out how much worse things have gotten for her, that is weighing heavily on my heart.  I don't want to imagine something happening to her and her being lost.  We've talked about God.  At one point (probably 2 years ago) she did mention that she wanted to go to church, because she felt like something was missing in her life.  That was a good sign.  However, nothing has come of that (especially with her health.)  I mention that I'm praying for her, and that I can't imagine dealing with anything that's gone on in my life without knowing Jesus.  I try not to get preachy (or say too much) because she gets uncomfortable.

Along with her health, please pray that she realizes she needs God and accepts Jesus Christ into her heart.  I thank you more than you know for doing so.

Have a blessed night and day tomorrow.  You are all in my prayers.

Praise:  That I have salvation and what a wonderful gift from the heavenly father that is.

Prayer:  I pray for all those on this thread and lift their requests up to God.  Please be with those that are ill, those that are unsaved and give wisdom and guidence to those of us who serve you.  Thank you for all your wonderful gifts to us and for being an awesome God who loves and cares for us.

Amen

In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7

Bottom Line:  Don't worry about anything, pray about everything and God will bring you peace.

Wow, WT.  Thank you for that post, brother.  I know it wasn't by chance that I came here right now.  The friend I mentioned doesn't always feel well enough to talk on the phone, so we email when that's the case, and I just sent her one about what accepting Christ does for a person, and what happens when they don't (in a more caring/loving way than that of course, that was the main part of most of the email though.)  Anyway, I've been worrying, and seeing that I just sent it before I came here, that Scripture is EXACTLY what I needed!  Thanks again, brother!
