VOD 08/15/09: Don’t Try to Get Even…

Verse:

Luke 6:35
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. (KJV)

Thought:

“I’ll get even for that!” I’ve said it, you’ve said it, everybody, at some point in time, has said it. God says we shouldn’t. He wants all of His children to get along. Unfortunately, too many people only have their own best interest at heart and feel they have to repay any slight they may perceive. The best way to get even is to forgive and forget. God says so.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Lord, be with us today and have Your Spirit guide us down the path You wish us to take. Let us have compassion and forgiveness for those who may insult and degrade us. They do not know any better. As your children, have our temperament and conduct be as Jesus would behave.
We lift our prayers up to You, our LORD and our Savior…Amen.

Good morning to one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and pleasant day and weekend.

May God Bless,
Michael

Hey BAmaMAn, I've been off the boards for awhile, but am back now and miss your input over on the Bama board.  I hope to see you over there again.

Since I know you're a man of faith, I wanted to share with you that this past easter, at the age of 44, I accepted Jesus into my life and was baptized into the Catholic Church.  The study leading up to it and the baptism itself were life changing.

Hey Sir Rizzo. It has been a while. Good to hear from you again and a big Hallelujah and welcome into the family of God. His Word does have a tendency to change ones perspective on life.
Once the season starts I'll be a little more active on the sports forums. I look forward to renewing last year's friendships over there. As of late I have been establishing my internet Verse of the Day ministry here, at cfbparadise (on weekends +), at TBDPITL (where I am the site 'Chaplain'), and I recently started a Verse of the Day page on Facebook. It's kinda kept me a little busy.

Catch you later. Stay strong in the faith.

VOD 08/16/09: To Live, You Have to Believe…

Verse:

Psalms 14:1
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. (KJV)

Thought:

There is no God!? That’s like saying there is no air to breath. That’s like saying there is no Sun, no Moon, no stars or universe. He is everywhere. He walked this earth with the original inhabitants and had His Son, Jesus, come and lay down the ultimate sacrifice so that we could have everlasting life. But in order to live, you have to believe in Him.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. God of All, be with us today and have the Holy Spirit instill us with strength and perseverance to withstand those that would have us believe that You do not exist. Gird us with the spiritual armor of Your Word and stand beside us in our daily battle with the darker forces of this world.
We lift our prayers up to You, our LORD and our Savior…Amen.

Good morning to one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and pleasant day of worship and upcoming week.

VOD 08/17/09: Abusive Language Leads to Ungodliness…

Verse:

2 Timothy 2:16
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. (KJV)

Thought:

Obscene uttering and egotistical boasting: What is the gain of such useless language? In what civilized environment is it deemed to be acceptable conduct? To use language that is unacceptable to God is to distance oneself from Him. The more a person uses it, the further he or she removes themselves from His blessings.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Lord, be with us today and have the Holy Spirit abide in our hearts and minds and bridle our tongues against using language that is offensive to You. Show us how we should conduct ourselves so we may exhibit to others Your Word personified.
We lift our prayers up to You, our LORD and our Savior…Amen.

OGR, I have been on the d/l for the past week or so, my necked locked up and couldn't move it at all.  My wife said I looked like Ed Sullivan.  I am feeling better now, but can always use prayer to prevent a re-occurence.  Greetings to all of the great people on this thread.

Greetings and God bless you all

I went to bed normally last Wednesday night and woke up Friday in the ICU of the hospital.  No recollection of anything, but I'm told my EKG was extremely abnormal and that I a seizure and had CT scans of my head.  I don't know the results of that either, but they released me and I'm home again, feeling really creepy about falling asleep not knowing if or where I'll wake up!  I really need your prayers at this time.  I see the doctor Thursday.  A home health nurse came in after I got home, and the records she had under my name were definitely NOT MINE!!!  I'm lucky I didn't end up with an unnecessary surgery.

I really had to deal with walking by faith in this situation.  I felt like God no longer loved me, but we must all remember that our relationship with God is not based on what we FEEL because feelings change, but God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  Our faith is based on what we KNOW about God and our relationship with Him.  Regardless of how I felt, I kept praying and I'm still here.  God never left me and will never leave any of us.

I keep everyone in prayer here and it's good to be back once more.  Be strong in the Lord and stand firm on His promises.

Mainstay – Believe
From the album – Become Who You Are

I don't know if I still have the strength to get up again
I don't know if I can face my own reflection
Jesus, take this heart that feels so cold again and make it new

I hold this hope inside that you'll never leave me

Chorus:
When all around me starts to fall and when my faith it seems so small
Even in my darkest hour, I will believe
Even if the sun begins to fall, even when I feel nothing at all
Even if I'm all alone, I will believe

I don't know how I could turn my back and walk away
All I really want is for your love to hold me
Jesus, take this heart and make it whole again

Chorus:

I know you'll never leave

This song always gives me goosebumps when I listen to it.  I hope you enjoy these lyrics half as much as I do

IWTB, I can count on you to come up with music I like!  Thanks, bro!  Here's one I just heard today and had to stop and listen to:

Miracle of Mercy
Steven Curtis Chapman

If the truth was known
And a light was shown
On every hidden part of my soul
Most would turn away,
Shake their head and say
He still has such a long way to go
If the truth was know you'd see
That the only good in me
Is Jesus, oh it's Jesus

If the walls could speak
Of the times I've been weak
When everybody thought I was strong
Could I show my face
If it weren't for the grace
Of the one who's known the truth all along
If the walls could speak they'd say
That my only hope is the grace
Of Jesus, the grace of Jesus

But, oh the goodness and the grace in Him
He takes it all and makes it mine
And causes his light in me to shine
And he loves me with a love that never ends
Just as I am not as I do
Could this be real, could this be true
This could only be a miracle
This could only be the miracle of mercy

VOD 08/18/09: Starve the Doubt, Feed the Faith…

Verse:

Hebrews 10:39
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. (KJV)

Thought:

Where there is more doubt, there is less faith. Where there is less faith, there is less hope. Where there is less hope, the less one feels that there is anything to live for. It is an endless downward spiral. Starve your doubts by feeding your faith with the living food found in the Holy Bible. Nourish yourself with the ingestion of God’s Word.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Lord, be with us today and have Your Spirit fill us with hope and faith. Do not let us fall victim to despair and anguish. Let us see the positives in all situations and not dwell on the negatives. Have us be a shining example of Your love and optimism in all we do and say.
We lift our prayers up to You, our LORD and our Savior…Amen.

All of you are TRULY AWESOME PEOPLE!  May God protect everyone that participates in this thread from the evil one.  May He shield everyone here with His Holy Spirit!

I just wanted to say that although we know that there are MANY people even in this nation that don't know of Jesus, that need Him, that it has hit me harder than ever as of late.  I don't know who participates on the college football message board that does this thread, but I wanted to talk about a topic that has been pretty hot on it for a while now.

Someone created the thread "proof God exists."  While as I Christian, I don't believe it was the right way of going about creating a thread, I've been reading and posting on it.  The reason that I say that, in my opinion, it isn't the right way of going about it is, I believe that it just makes non-believers feel that they are being "called out" and having God "shoved down their throats."  I also don't believe that the way of going about sharing our faith is by telling the non-believers, "hey, listen here, I've got proof that God exists, and I'm going to tell you how I know!"  It's not about proof.  It's about faith.  We know this!

Sorry for going on, the only reason that I shared that is because the questions that I've replied to are questions from the non-believers that overall are trying to understand "why we believe what we believe."  It becomes discouraging to see all of the people that not only do they not believe, but some of them also try to state how ridiculous we are for believing it.

I said the only reason that I posted here in the previous paragraph... oops!  I've got another one.

My last post on that board was basically to explain (in a nutshell) the best answer I could think of to answer a lot of questions from a lot of non-believers on that topic.  I referred them to John 15.

I thought about the fact that it was discouraging to me that so many people don't understand, and I thought about my fellow believers on this board.  I'm sure that a lot of you might get the same way.  I just wanted to remind you that if you ARE one of those people to think about the main Scripture in John 15, that it makes me think of.  When the Lord says, "you are not of this world, just as I am not of it."  That really hits home when I even go as far as becoming aggrevated that I can't show them how easy it is to believe.  That Scripture hit me, and then I remembered, the non-believers are still "of this world."  Until they make that first "leap of faith," and decide to follow Christ, they won't understand why we follow Him and His Holy Word.

Okay.  Let me apologize for the lengthy post!  I felt that it needed to be shared here, because that particular thread needs prayer, that if nothing else, it will atleast "plant the seed" in atleast ONE of them, so that even if it is years before they do so, they think about it, and they look into the Word, and eventually accept Jesus Christ.  Also, I share it with you, because if ANY of you happen to be dealing with people in this boat in your personal lives, I hope that Scripture reassures you, the way it did me, and that you just keep in mind that atleast the seed has been planted.

Again, sorry for carrying on.  God bless you, and may He guide us to do what He told us to do in His Great Commision, to go and tell the world.

One more thing that I wanted to post.  My best friend, who has really been like the brother I've never had for the last 15 years, also my brother in Christ, is overseas on a mission trip.

He took a BOLD step.  He didn't know any of the people that he was going to be serving with.  He flew to Hong Kong this past January to do mission work with a group called YWAM... You With A Mission (just in case you didn't know about it.)  He felt the Lord telling him that he was supposed to do it.  He calls me when he gets a chance to let me know how he is, and how the mission is going.  They first went to a school in Hong Kong to learn about how to work with the people while they are out in the mission field, backpacking through basically "the middle of nowhere" in China.  He was gone for about 3 months doing that.  He said that quite a few people made decisions to accept Jesus Christ into their hearts!  That is a big praise!

He called me late last week and said, that he would be flying to Calcutta, India for the next part of the mission, leaving this past weekend.  If I remember correctly, he said that they would be in Calcutta for about 2 and a half weeks, then take either a small plane or helicopter to Nepal to stay (I don't believe that he said for how long) and from there go to Thailand to work with a group that works with children with AIDS.  He will return home right before Thanksgiving.

I ask that everyone please keep his safety in your prayers, for him and his group.  Please also pray that more people come to know the Lord during this part of the trip, and that God gives him and the mission workers wisdom to do His Perfect Will, and that the Lord keeps the evil one from attacking them.

Thank you all!

HogFan!!!! How great to see you again!!!  I missed you, dear friend, and I am soooo uplifted to hear you sharing your faith with others and with us!  I will most certainly keep your friend in prayer as he goes through his mission trip.  I have been so involved with Voice of the Martyrs and ChinaAid, as are so many others on this thread, that I was surprised you said your friend was on a Missions trip to Hong Kong.  Was it sanctioned by their government or was he doing renegade missions work (some of my friends have smuggled Bibles into China until they got caught and thrown out of the country).  I will pray for him and I'm eager to hear anything you can share with us when he gets home!  God bless you, dear friend, and I will keep the other thread in prayer as well!

Michael, Jack, Gary, Stu, IWTB--God bless you all, too.  Thanks for your prayers and encouragement.  I got my medical records from the hospital today and had a good read.  I tagged the parts of the file that are definitely NOT me (I got married, apparently, while in the hospital, hehehe).  I may have had an "acute myocardial infarction"--isn't that a heart attack?  The records refer to my "other" hospital that diagnosed my "cranial aneurism" and then the CT scan done at the hospital I really went to that showed NO abnormalities.  I'm taking the whole mess to my doctor on Thursday and see what he can make of it!

I would like everyone to pray for me to have a boring life please? lol  Please?

Sing your praise to the Lord!

What goes up must come down. Let us hope we don't get too wet with the fall out. You are supposed to smoke flyboys, not sink them. See you got confused wth what you do to the navy or to the airforce.
