VOD 08/12/09: We Must Set The Stage…

Verse:

Matthew 5:44-45
   But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. (KJV)

Thought:

   Meaning? We are all in this earthly life together. As children of God, we must overlook the animosity of those that do not have a personal relationship with the Father and set an example as to how His children should behave. If done properly, and in accordance with His will, it just may become a behavior that finds favor with those that were opposed.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
   Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Abba God, be with us today and have the Holy Spirit give us patience and strength when dealing with those that are opposed to our beliefs. Bestow on us the character that emulates Your Word. Let us show others Your meaning of love, compassion, mercy, and grace.
   We lift our prayers up to You, our LORD and our Savior…Amen.

Michael, how is your friend doing?  Prayers continue for him and his family.

Kick off time is almost here (not counting the exhibition games! lol  I'll watch when the starters take more than 4 snaps!  I'm so fussy, how unreasonable of me!) 

My infection has returned.  I'd like to ask for prayer.  I thought that after battling this since May, having about 9 days of apparent health meant I was OK, but it's back, and I'm really worn down physically and mentally and would appreciate the support.  God is faithful so there must be a reason and purpose to be accomplished through this, I just don't know what it is yet.

VOD 08/13/09: It’s Not Cool to Blow Your Cool…

Verse:

Ecclesiastes 7:8-9
   Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools. (KJV)

Thought:

   Anger is a very negative emotion. It raises the blood pressure, causing those little veins to pop out at the temple and turning the face all red. Not a pretty picture. It distorts one’s thinking as well, causing a person to make irrational decisions. So take a deep breath and count to ten. After all, which would you rather be considered; a person known for their cool, calm, and collected demeanor…or a fool?

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
   Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. God of Peace, be with us today and have the Holy Spirit fill us with calm and reserve when associating with others. Teach us Your patience and how to not let our emotions get the better of us. Temper our responses to those we speak with so that we may show others, by example, the will of Your Word.
   We lift our prayers up to You, our LORD and our Savior…Amen.

I just bought a book with a CD containing Jim Caviezel and his favorite verses(he acts them out on the CD).  If anyone would like a copy, please let me know.  I know that making a copy might not be the "Christian" thing to do, but I feel that if it's for a positive outcome, then it's alright :)

08/14/09: All You Need is One Book…

Verse:

Proverbs 9:10-11
   The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. (KJV)

Thought:

   So many books have been written about diet, exercise, and self-improvement that you could fill a library with them. There is no telling how much money people have spent in the search of a higher standard of living. God tells us that all a person has to do is read one book, the Holy Bible. Turn to Him and follow His teachings and your life will be more than you could ask for.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
   Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. O Lord, be with us today and instill in us the desire to seek a better life for ourselves by the reading of the teachings of Your Word. Do not let us forget to take a few moments of each day for rest, meditation, and the studying of Your instructions on how to live a fuller, more rewarding existence.

VOD 08/15/09: Don’t Try to Get Even…

Verse:

Luke 6:35
   But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. (KJV)

Thought:

   “I’ll get even for that!” I’ve said it, you’ve said it, everybody, at some point in time, has said it. God says we shouldn’t. He wants all of His children to get along. Unfortunately, too many people only have their own best interest at heart and feel they have to repay any slight they may perceive. The best way to get even is to forgive and forget. God says so.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
   Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Lord, be with us today and have Your Spirit guide us down the path You wish us to take. Let us have compassion and forgiveness for those who may insult and degrade us. They do not know any better. As your children, have our temperament and conduct be as Jesus would behave.

Hey BAmaMAn, I've been off the boards for awhile, but am back now and miss your input over on the Bama board.  I hope to see you over there again.

Since I know you're a man of faith, I wanted to share with you that this past easter, at the age of 44, I accepted Jesus into my life and was baptized into the Catholic Church.  The study leading up to it and the baptism itself were life changing.

Hey Sir Rizzo. It has been a while. Good to hear from you again and a big Hallelujah and welcome into the family of God. His Word does have a tendency to change ones perspective on life.
Once the season starts I'll be a little more active on the sports forums. I look forward to renewing last year's friendships over there. As of late I have been establishing my internet Verse of the Day ministry here, at cfbparadise (on weekends +), at TBDPITL (where I am the site 'Chaplain'), and I recently started a Verse of the Day page on Facebook. It's kinda kept me a little busy.

VOD 08/16/09: To Live, You Have to Believe…

Psalms 14:1
   The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. (KJV)

Thought:

   There is no God!? That’s like saying there is no air to breath. That’s like saying there is no Sun, no Moon, no stars or universe. He is everywhere. He walked this earth with the original inhabitants and had His Son, Jesus, come and lay down the ultimate sacrifice so that we could have everlasting life. But in order to live, you have to believe in Him.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
   Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. God of All, be with us today and have the Holy Spirit instill us with strength and perseverance to withstand those that would have us believe that You do not exist. Gird us with the spiritual armor of Your Word and stand beside us in our daily battle with the darker forces of this world.

VOD 08/17/09: Abusive Language Leads to Ungodliness…

Verse:

2 Timothy 2:16
   But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. (KJV)

Thought:

   Obscene uttering and egotistical boasting: What is the gain of such useless language? In what civilized environment is it deemed to be acceptable conduct? To use language that is unacceptable to God is to distance oneself from Him. The more a person uses it, the further he or she removes themselves from His blessings.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
   Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Lord, be with us today and have the Holy Spirit abide in our hearts and minds and bridle our tongues against using language that is offensive to You. Show us how we should conduct ourselves so we may exhibit to others Your Word personified.

Hello Ogr! How are you doing? The move is going ok! I haven't seen jjoey but he's young! Maybe he has an ACTUAL social life? How am I doing? ogr ponders this deeply as he really is not sure how to answer, gets it, and responds... Some things well, some things poorly, but am not worried enough to wonder which is which. jjoey with a social life, say it ain't so. Ah the young do have nothing better to do with their time than to socialize.

If, I am young, you must be Methusalah,lol.  57 and counting here, Stu, so true about the germs being in the hospital. 


Lord, touch Scott and bring healing to him, also Lord be merciful to Phitman and spare him any paralysis, also bring Sissy home healthy in spirit and body, and touch our brother Phantom bring healing and comfort to him in Jesus name.

The martyrs have always suffered for his name's sake, sis. I am pretty sure I know why it always seeems to be you. Those who can give so much and gain so little are the beacons to all of us who have much and still want. We are not the best of people, but take heart in seeing those who are the best forwarding the best in us all. Yes, we do pray for you and I am sure God hears, for his messengers have always been faithful. Bless you this day little sis, for there is no one like you and though we back benchers alwasy seem to be bickering and teasing, we always look to you as our solid rock of faith and humility, the one we would choose to follow to God's door.
