LOCK THREAD CONCEPT -
This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.
THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!
PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, AFC East, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.
RULES FOR POSTING -
I take it upon myself to donate my time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. I will not track your picks if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, I won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.
- Post only 1 LOCK per day. You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week. A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday. Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL. You do not have to stay in one sport. Spread them around if you like.
- No "buying" points.
- First half lines are OK. No second half or quarter lines. We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit. Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.
- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc.
- No props.
- No moneylines.
- Hockey and soccer plays need to be -129 or better. No HUGE favorites for LOCKS. If you have a -200 line or something, take the -1.5 goals if you feel like it is still a LOCK.
- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.
You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on said team.

I will try to get CONSENSUS statistics out before the first tips each day around 3:40 PM, PST. There is no guarantee, however.

He wants to talk about the Kentucky Derby, having had in the past month both Larry Jones and Rich Perloff, this makes another big guest with a potential for some good info. My Top 5 Plays for Saturday: #1- Pitt/Uconn Over 140... Love the way these teams have been playing offensively and despite the injury to Pitt's LeVance Fields there will be enough running and scoring for this game to go over the total of 140. #2- Dayton-6...Big bounce-back game for Dayton after the Xavier beatdown. The A-10 is sooo underated and pick one between Xavier, Rhode Island, and Dayton and pencil them into the sweet 16, maybe 2. #3- Kansas-8.5..Another big bounce-back game is Kansas-8.5 over Texas.] #4- Syracuse/Marquette Over 157...Expect the pace to be quick and the defense to be non-existant. #5- Auburn-2....Very important game for the home Tigers. Thanks for the mention USC, and keep on keeping on. |

I'm posting now since I work tomorrow morning. Well I had my 1st lock winner on Wed. with Minnesota and I'm coming right back again and LOCKING Minnesota -4.5 over Michigan. Minnesota held Manny Harris to 8pts in Ann Arbor and see no reason why that trend doesn't spill over to this game. Minnesota got beat from the 3pt line as Michigan caught fire, easy to do on your home floor, but not so fast my friends.... this is the BARN (raised floor and all). Minnesota excels at home, the crowds are crazy, the defense is lock down and I personally see this game being over by halftime. Minnesota was up on Wisconsin by 6pts at the half on Wed. and it should have been a dozen or so if anyone was watching the game. This is a payback game as well and with Minny just beating the hottest team in the Big Ten (Wisky) they are now in Tubby-vision focus to take care of business. Bet this till the paper runs out!

I really like Oregon St. today getting an inflated number at USC. Oregon St. hasn't been very good in their last game and a half but they let the tempo of the game get away from them in those games. They really got ambushed by UCLA in their last game but USC doesn't have the offensive fire power of the Bruins which should let The Beavers stay in their comfort zone and make this a posession type game. USC isn't a good perimeter team at all and if you can limit their easy baskets they tend to have difficulty scoring. Taj Gibson has played well lately for the Trojans but you can give him his as long as OSU controls the pace. I think pts will be at a premium in this one. USC played well offensively in their last game but that was probably more due to the style of Oregon who give a lot of open looks and transistion baskets. Even so the Ducks were within a basket with under 4 mins to play but were unable to hang on and lost by 14. The Beavers have had a good season and will end it strong against a USC team that is still battling some internal problems. They may not win but in a low scoring competetive game the line is too high in my opinion. Lock Oregon St. +12

Also, liking Wyoming alot at home against N Mexico. If I could I would lock this game also. I know that NM is playing to win a share of the MWC championship but I don't feel that they will play with any more motivation than Wyoming in its last home game. I look for Sr. Brandon Ewing to have a big game to end his home career at Wyoming and for the Pokes to at minimum stay close for the duration. I feel that they win this one and deny NM a share of the title but I will take the 4 just in case. I wish that I could wait until later to bet this to see if the line goes up because I did see 4- somewhere but I have to work in the morning so I have no choice but to take it now. WYOMING +4

Goood Mornign Everyone..... Looks like it will not be a lackluster last weekend of regular season basketball!!! Love the card today.. There are some great lines early! Love these games as I look into them a bit further! Cincy -6.5/SH GT +8.5/BC Pitt/Uconn (o) 140.5 TT +8 or so..... Not sure they will have the letdown expected UK +5..... Oconnel center is a tough place to play, but UF is just not good enough or deep enough.... Loser is def out of NCAA! Syracuse +5 Penn St +3 (LOVE THIS ONE) Maryland -2 UVA SUCKS SC -5..... SC will have a monster game after being enbarrassed by TENN Miss St +2 Better team UL +2 Probably a lock for me today!

Just sit back, put it on cruise control and let those guys drive it where it needs to go, and you can't go wrong. Good Morning Board. I'm going to use my last lock this week on Louisville +3. Louisville +3 LOCK This is a huge game for the cardinals. The cards can win their first outright Big East title with a victory and a uconn loss. The only scenario where they won't get a least a piece is a uconn win and a cards loss.So needless to say this game has huge implications.Coach Pitino has this team playing great right now and at the perfect time.This game will not be easy as coach Huggins team plays with his toughness.Scoring won't come easy, look for both teams to play shut down D. Look for Louisville's bench to play a huge roll as they are very deep.This game is on the national stage Espn at 9 pm est. it's also where gameday is.Last meeting on jan 31, 2009 Louisville won 69-63. Also the cards are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games as a road underdog.Look for Louisville to come out tight in the first half, with so much on the line.Coach Pitino will make ajustments at the half, and they will wear W.Virginia down and come out of Morgantown, with a hard fought victory.Louisville wins somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-5 points. GL today guys great games all day. Holmey LOCK me up LOUISVILLE +3. Also wanted to say thanks again for all you do with the thread. I love it. |

USC, pls LOCK me up for Chelsea -1.5 Chelsea have now won 4 in a row ever since Hiddink took over as manager. All 4 wins however have only been by a 1 goal margin. They'll be up against Coventry City who they have not beaten by more 2 or more goals for 8 games running. That was however way before Chelsea had a sugar daddy. Coventry City now plays one division lower in the league and Chelsea are now powerhouses of world football. Chelsea will be without top scorer Anelka but will have Drogba who is starting to enjoy his football again leading the line. With Lampard running the show in the middle of the park and Terry marshalling the defence. Chelsea should win this and clear the handicap. The reason i say this is this is a knockout competition and if Chelsea score first (which i believe they will), Coventry will have to come out and look for an equaliser. This will create openings for Chelsea to hit them on the break. Will be back with more soccer plays later.

Celt Really confused why your saying that the Fulham v Man Utd game is a second leg ? Its an FA CUP 1/4 final. Presuming you just have your game write ups mixed up. I love the play on United but dont want the people that arent knowledgable about soccer being on the game because they think it will be an open game with Fulham chasing the game.
