cats-volsr1 - 16 team playoff is 4 games for 2 teams, 3 games for an additional 2 teams, and 2 games for an additional 4 teams. Take out one regular season game and you're talking about only 4 teams playing more games than they currently do. I don't think that's really too much to ask but it's simply my opinion. I think the most fair way is to give all conference champions an automatic berth. Currently that's 11 teams right off the bat. Need to take 5 more to create an even bracket or give some team's byes. Either way is fine with me, I'd just like for all D-1A teams to be treated fairly and equally.
As far as conference championship games go, I think each conference should determine its champion how it wants to. What most people seem to misunderstand is that the conferences that have championship games CHOSE to determine their champion that way. And most chose to do that to raise more revenue for their conference. There are consequences, but the consequences can be just as positive as they can be negative. The conferences know the consequences and therefore must live with them. If you don't want to live with the consequences, get rid of the championship games. It should be up to the conference how it wants to determine its champ. Again just my opinion.

This is going to be a much better National Title Game then last year. Ohio State matches up well with LSU so this should b a very good game to watch. What I'm really wondering is which LSU Tiger team will show up? The one that dominated Va Tech and Mississippi State? Or the one that looked average during that 5 week period when teams averaged over 30 points a game?
Les Miles and Jim Tressel will hae their teams reay for this clash of the champions but in the end The SuperDome will be crowning LSU as the BCS National Champions being the first two loss National Champion since 1960 Minnesota Golden Golphers and only the second ever in Division I-A Football...what a way to finish a crazey college football season...

Better coach, better defense and better running game and the X factor of last years game! Take Ohio st. and the +4 points. I have a feeling that Les Miles "luck" is about to run out! How do you lose to Kentucky and Arkansas? I can't get the taste of those games out of my head! In a close game it comes down to coaching and I AM NOT BUYING INTO THE LSU HAS MORE SPEED THEORY!

im not going to read all 25 pages so if i repeat anyone, live with it
will be a great game, none of these teams would have beaten their teams from last year, but they are very equal. #1 defense (OSU) against top 5 offense (LSU) and a very good defense vs. a very explosive offense.
Ohio state is playing with last year's game on their soldiers, adversity, and criticism from the entire country. No one shoudl expect the same outcome as last year, they have trained differently and have other stars.
the LSU team is playing with a home field advantage, outrageous support from the country. The defense should be healthy and the offense (if they show up the first half) can out-manouver any defense.
it comes down to the game in the trenches, OSU and LSU have the best lines in the country. the matchup itself is great. i cant wait.

Here is something for all of us SEC fans and Big 10 fans alike to think about. We can all argue until we are blue in the face as to which is the better conference, who will beat whom and why. This will be a good game and right now I think the winner will be and already is...ready for this BOTH CONFERENCES!
Money is the reason that there will never be a playoff and the total bowl appearance payouts to each conference after tonights game will be:
$51.7 million dollars for the SEC and $46.5 million for the Big 10!!! $107.2 million dollars combined looks like the big winner to me!
All the rest is just smoke-filled baroom (unless you live in Ohio where indoor smoking is baned) smack talk that keeps us going from year to year.
