What makes you think they are both elite?  The fact that Haren was a Top 10 SP last year...ok maybe I can buy him performing better over the course of the rest of the season, but you have to admit that the Angels aren't nearly as good as everyone thought they would be so you shouldn't be surprised to see his total wins go from 16 down to say 12.  That being said, I'm probably being generous to consider Gallardo a Top 30 SP seeing as how the Brewers talent has been depleted (just ask McGill...she'll tell you)

As for Johan Santana, he hasn't been a Top 30 SP since 2008, but now with the Citi Field fences being brought in he's suddenly supposed to resurect his career...go sell that snake oil somewhere else.

I have 8 SPs that are certainly worthy of being on a roster right now and that would be a signifcant upgrade over some of the guys you listed, but I'm not dropping them any time soon so if you want to make a deal then look at my trade block and present an offer...I'm not as impossible to deal with as Dave would have you believe.

I could of said two SPs in the Top 30 and another in the Top 50 (that he is considering dropping), but my point that his overall pitching staff is dreadful still rings clear.  Now maybe Haren rebounds (if the Angels start hitting) and Gallardo improves as well, but he certainly has reason to be concerned and if parting with player he can live without is feasible, then I would recommned he do so.

Even if he doesn't make a trade with me, he should be looking to improve his pitching staff.

Austin asked for help on his team a couple of weeks ago and I suggested he get Morales out of the starting lineup and look to upgrade Ackley if he could...other than that his team was pretty solid.  He adds Adam Dunn who was jettisoned by Dave in an attempt to load up on two start SPs (how did Barry Zito work out for ya???) and he just released Ackley today to pick up a hot OF (Craig Allen).

Now I'm not managing his team for him, but he asked for some guidance as to how to improve his team and I gave it to him...didn't try to force a trade down his throat (though I did make a couple of offers for Freese)...just gave my honest opinion of what I would do if I had his team in my hands.

I will do this for anyone who asks because I enjoy it and like to see a competitive league...nothing worse than an owner who gets off to a slow start and just simply quits on their team because they don't want to put in any effort.

it also may be appropriate to define how you are coing up with your top 60 list

pre-season, last year results, YTD? last 28, last 21/14/ days? CBS, Bleacher Report, Yahoo, ESPN? 

or whichever fits your needs?

I have a #144 preseason #28 ytd and a #28 preseason 144 or something YTD and then there is Latos who has sucked but had 2 good outings and is heating up  Saunders was on fire and just choked .. it is all perception 

if my company is worth $500,000,000 how are we doing?  it does not mean anything without context

if we were worth 1Billion last year... not good  100million last year... doing great 

I always use YTD results because they are the most relevant stat we have to rely on, but also try to put them into context (for instance everyone knows that Cliff Lee is a Top 30 SP even though he is not there right now due to being on the DL the last two weeks)...preseason rankings are just simply conjecture based almost strictly on previous performance....not completely worthless, but then again does anyone care right now how good a player might have been last year or the year before if he is sucking ass right now?  Maybe, but I don't put a lot of stock into previous performance...might be why I jettisoned Josh Johnson for a hot SP...maybe I regret it later, but once I lose trust in a player, it isn't earned back very quickly if ever.

Anything less than YTD is likely to show an insignifcant sample size and maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't use it except to identify possible add/drop players.

so you should have no problems trading one of your stud catchers #92 and  84 and Robinson Cano #87 for my stud top 60 pitcher Joe Saunders mowen 'em down at #49
