not sure why you're mentioning visnovsky here, ted. he's already under contract for this coming season. i don't think anything the isles do in terms of an extension for him will affect this year's cap numbers. afaik, extensions do not cause recalculation of current cap hits. as for martin, whether they sign him for one year or twenty, only the cap hit for this coming season will count toward reaching the cap floor this year.

capgeek says they're currently at about 47.7M. floor is at 54.2M, so they've got about 6.5 to cover.

The Cap Floor could still rise though depending on the CBA agreement. As of now they have 6.5 to cover. That could escalate. I would love to see the floor rise even more just to handcuff Wang into spending on players that would somehow help this team rather than hinder.
I agre that they need to sign Matt Martin to possibly a 3 or 4 year deal and then maybe overpay for the services of Semin.
The only probles with that is that the Canes and possibly the Pens look to be the frontrunners for his services.
