Looks like ol' Drex struck a nerve. I've never seen you go after someone in three consecutive "Hate Mail" responses. And I have to admit, of all your postings the "Hate Mail" is by far my favorite. Is that insecurity we smell? Or are you just pissed because he has a full head of hair, edits something that is actually printed, doesn't root for the SEC, and is articulate enought to call you an idiot without actually calling you and idiot. That Drex, he's a jerk that guy!
I'm a Ducks fan and I will actually give Doyel some love. I appreciate what he said because it is TRUTH! The difference between Oregon and LSU & Cal is Oregon paid 5x as much and they actually got the player they were buying.
Duck fans are in denial. Chip Kelly will get fired after the investigation is completed. I'd say the Ducks have this year to still be relevant and after that they will go back to being the Oregon Ducks, which is pretty much a middle of the pack college football team that no one will care about.
And is it because Oregon cheated? Nope. Everyone trying to win cheats. I have no problem with what Chip Kelly tried to do. It has been fun being relevant. But Chip Kelly did not do a good job hiding it or covering it up like the SEC coaches do.
Nice job Doyel. Keep speaking the truth.
I was brilliant -- and I should change my name to Drex Heikes and start making silly Myanmar comparisons to prove it.
HAHAHAHAHA.....One of the funniest Hate Mail lines ever, I laughed for about 5 minutes straight after reading it!
Doyle is a genius. He gets morons to read his stuff and write the Hate Mail pieces for him, basically, and it keeps the other 98% of us entertained on most days when we want brain-dead stuff to humor us after a long day at the office. Keep up the great work Greg. And that's not a sarcastic comment.
The reason Doyel keeps getting hate mail from supporters of the schools mentioned is that he demands the firing of the coaches at UT, OH State, Oregon, North Carolina, etc. while he keeps ignoring the serial offenses of the poster boy of ncaa violations - John Calipari. Not once has he called for "Saint John" to be fired. Nor does he even suggest that Coach K be disciplined for breaking ncaa recruiting rules. Gregg's a hypocrite of the rankest order. Ooooooh, that smell!
It's not letting me send you an email, but here is what I'm trying to send to you, courtesy of Steve W.
Reading your article about respecting umps gave me the same feeling as reading an article on childcare written by Casey Anthony would. Or reading an article by Jay Mariotti on treating women with respect. So in your opinion, you should respect others in face to face situations, but it is perfectly ok to slander countless individuals based on "reports" as long as it's not person to person? Are you running out of ideas? Stay in character. Continue being the guy who appears on CNN to call Twitter "stupid" and now has over 29,000 "tweets" That seems to be your pattern. If you do not have enough information to have an informed opinion, just bash the hell out of it. I hope to see this in hate mail and read your bumbling moronic response, as usual.
Careful everybody, I heard Doyle has a Thesaurus now and he's not afraid to use it. It gives him the ability to only repeat the eight big words he knows, two or three times an article. And just so you know, Greg Doyle is not running out of ideas, he ran out of ideas back in high school. Actually he only ever had three ideas and here they are.....
Idea #1, Dress like a tool whenever you get the chance to be on TV.
Idea #2, Hide lack of talent by trying to be "outrageous" instead of interesting. Doyle likes to consider himself "the sportswriter you love to hate" (he's actually referenced himself as that many times). Aw.... that's sad.
Idea #3, Step one, read Bill Simmons articles. Step two, copy the format of said Bill Simmons articles. Step three, remove anything funny from articles and replace it with pretend anger and run on sentences. Step four, serve and enjoy!
That's pretty much it! Well I guess if you want, you could bump it up to four ideas if you count trying to force people to have sex with you. Like that time in Doyle's senior year of high school when it was "reported" that he was brought up on charges for sexually assulting a freshmen. It doesn't specify if the victim was a guy or a girl, but judging by Doyle's love for goatee's, I'm going to guess the former.
Doyel, I like your style. Your a smart ass and I think its funny to read some of the stupid responses you get. Yes I am a ducks fan, no I don't think Kelly should be fired, yes he made the program look stupid and finally I like your hair.
I don't get why so many people run on here to bash a writer. This on-line posting has made us a culture of cowards who like to talk tough when sitting in front of a computer.
Somehow, this never gets old. The irony is that most of the people writing so passionately about the Buckeyes and Ducks would probably have to cheat on the SAT to get through the NCAA clearinghouse.
@Dmun25: I love reading Hate Mail & the attending comments, but I don't even know what your point was beause I didn't get that far. When you can't even type Doyel's name properly, your comment immediately hits the trash bucket.
FYI: If you wanna spend time trashing someone, you should consider the idea of knowing who he/she is prior to opening your mouth. Being able to spell their name is a good first step.
This is pretty pathetic. Doyell writes an inflammatory column in order to generate subject matter for additional columns.
I read dozens of responses to his article. I find it amusing that he chooses to print only the angry and vitriolic ones while ignoring the logical, cogent ones that point out the errors of his logic. Apparently he doesn't want to address any contradictory positions that actually make sense.
The fact is that Doyell has made a decision without hearing both sides of the story. He's relying solely on the word of Willie Lyles, who he uses as both the justification of his opinion while in the same article insulting as a crook and scammer.
Perhaps some of the other comments are right, and it's not about being informed and intelligent. Rather it's about stirring the pot and generating 'clicks' at all costs.
