Here where the blood is spilled, the arena's filled, and Giants play the game

Wrecking Ball - Bruce Springsteen. Looks like we got a double M here but since Bruce is obviously referring to New Jersey, we'll take that as your N.

Why not go mythical

Oh Oz never did give nothing to the

What's this talk about mythical?  Oz is real, I've been there, and Toto too!

It was just after dark when the truck started down
the hill that leads into Scranton Pennsylvania.

No One Knows - Queens of the Stone Age

After doing some double checking, I'm beginning to wonder if Crosby did do backing vocals on Mary Jane's last Dance. For some reason, it sticks in my head that he did.
Thanks, clean. I know that I hadn't heard that he was on there....but there's a LOT of stuff I don't know! Smile

I think this qualifies as a "place":

If you ever plan to motor west,
Travel my way, take the highway that is best.

Route 66  --  Nat King Cole - Originally a 1946 jazz hit for Nat King Cole written by Bobby Troup that became a rock & roll classic covered by Chuck Berry, The Stones, Tom Petty, etc.

Next lyrics: The song title is mentioned in Route 66

We got in your car and we hit the highway
Eastern sun was rising over the mountains
Yellow and blood red bits
Like a kaleidoscope

San Bernardino - The Mountain Goats

I don't know what group you can associate this song with, but it was the first one that came to mind

To the shores of Tripoli

Halls of Montezuma - The United States Marine Corps seems like a good group to attribute the song to.

Taking some liberties with this one:

I drive on her streets because she's my companion
I walk through her hill because she knows who I am

Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers. That song represented their move to more mainstream rock. Lyrics from their earlier stuff would give the CBS csnsor fitss, like Party on your Pussy****.

Like, oh my god
Like, totally
Encino is like so bitchen
There's like the galleria
And liked all these really great shoe stores

Hey censors, that word also means cat. I guess that means we can't use what's new pussycat. Like George Carlin would say, you can say it when t means this, but you can't say it when it means that.

MASTER BLASTER(JAMMIN') - STEVIE WONDER  One of his biggest hits that was a foray into the raggae sound that was so strong in 1980, although Wonder had ventured into this territory as earlt as 1974 with BOOGIE ON RAGGAE WOMAN.

That's gotta be pretty scary that I come back from one of my "BREAKS" just in time to start the alphabet over.  Been really busy lately on the basketball threads and helping coach my son's high school tennis team, ao I may be a little sporatic with my entries until their season is over. But basketball is winding down and we start having real matches next week so the 3-4 two hour practices a week should be winding down and leave me with a little more time for my hobbies.

NEXT LYRICS: One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite groups that emerged in the 90s, this is a great guitar song to play that is very recognizable with a wonderful rhythm. Singing and playing simultaneously is quite a challenge as the band's singer likes to squeeze as many words into the smallest place possible in a lot of songs it seems, but he is a wonderful storyteller. BTW, I was reminded of this song as the NPR station I listen to was playing a new cut from their newest album, due for release in early April and their "sound" was instantly recognizable.

Shalalala la la la Uh huh..
I was down at the New Amsterdam staring at this yellow-haired girl

I know, first post and I'm already cheating a little but the song fit well with my story.

Mr. Jones - Counting Crows

This song's instrumental track is perfect for jugglers.

We stood beneath an amber moon and mumurered
someday soon we'll kissed and clung together
