PTL, what a week, a earthquake on Monday and a hurricane on Saturday, but I made it through Irene and at least in Va. Beach there wasn't too much damage.Have a great and blessed week and God bless

My sister-in-law sent me an email, and informed me as to the cause of the earthquake and the aftershocks.  She claims that the big bounce was caused by the $14 trillion check bouncing in Washington, and the tremors were caused by the Founding Fathers rolling over in their graves.  I realized, she was probably on to something.

Just wanted to get on and say hi to all you wonderful folks.  I just don't seem to post as much anymore and don't have any particular reason as to why.  I did notice that since I posted less, I have now made the top 1K, which I guess says something.  AB4C, Manning is not even close to Bradford this year, Sam is going to have a breakout year and take the Logan team to the title.

September 1, 2011 3:19 pm

Wow!  I have a lot to catch up on, thanks to all of you wonderful brothers in Christ!

Yes, I realize I live up in the mountains and away from the coastal areas, but the rain and wind from hurricane Irene completely decimated our town.  Our power was out for days (we just got it back and had to save or discard food and dump coolers, etc.), trees and power lines are down everywhere, homes and cars and roads and bridges were just crushed.  We still made out better than some other areas up here where the flooding and washed out roads have cut off whole communities from the outside world.  Praise God we made it through and may God have mercy on those who are still suffering.

I went back to the hospital today with Mom.  We will be going every Thursday for a long time to come.  The original spot of infection is responding to treatment, but the necrotizing fasciitis is spreading to tissue under the healthy skin.  We will apply the enzyme to that area for a week and pray that it eats into the skil and into the infection below.  If it does not, there may not be a way to avoid having tissue cut away from her leg next week.  Since she has calcified arteries in that leg to the point where an ultrasound couldn't pick up a pulse in her foot, they are worried about cutting into her leg and loosening the plaque in her arteries, risking a stroke or heart attack, but the only option past that is amputation so please continue to pray for Mom's healing.

A friend of mine who thought he had beaten cancer now has to undergo further chemo because cancer has been found elsewhere in his body.  Please keep him in prayer.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has set our feet upon the rock that we shall be able to stand firm in these times and wait on His grace, mercy, and love!

Be God's!

Your description brought back vivid memories of my grandfather.  He had osteomyelitis in first his feet and then his legs.  Following WWII, his bones began to degenerate and decay, a little at a time.  My earliest memories of my Paw Paw were of him dressing his oozing sores with Neosporin and fresh bandages, and then getting down on his hands and knees to play on the floor with me and my younger brothers and sisters.  It wan't until years later that I realize how much pain that must have caused, but he was never happier than when we were crawling all over him.  As years went by, it was difficult to watch as they removed his toes, feet, and eventually his legs.  I fully sympathize with the plight of watching and praying as your loved one seems to lose more and more of their body to disease.

Holy Father, I pray for Terry and her mom.  I ask that you touch her body with a restoration and a healing that will arrest the progress of this microbe.  Restore function and feeling, so that she may recover some level of ability with regards to mobility.  We know how much this impacts Terry, and how it affects her health.  Strengthen our dear sister and encourage her heart through Your Blessed Spirit, we pray.  May these ladies experience Your victory and the vindication that comes with fighting the good fight.  We know that our struggles are blessed and precious in Your sight- more precious than refined gold or pure silver.  We ask all these things in the Name of our Precious Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.  Amen.

Prayers

September 4, 2011 3:55 pm

Thank you all for the prayers.  I've learned that my friend's cancer is inoperable; he will have chemo and/or radiation, but if there is to be a cure, it will be in God's hands.  Mom's infection continues to spread and I want to get her back to the hospital Monday, if possible.  Please continue to pray!  In God alone I put my trust!

"I am gone like the shadow when it declineth; I am tossed up and down as the locust."
Psalm 109:23

Often we try to put our hopes on solutions that just aren't real. We kid ourselves into thinking that maybe our problems will take care of themselves and will require little effort on our part. Earthly, easy solutions fade away like shadows in the daylight. We shouldn't look to shadows for answers, but to the light. God is the source of all our solutions. Unlike the shadows, nothing causes God to fade into nothingness. His solutions are forever.

Father, shine the light of Your truth into my life, and help me to see that there is no solution too large for Your love to handle. Reassure me in times of doubt, O Lord, Amen.

I've learned that my friend's cancer is inoperable; he will have chemo and/or radiation, but if there is to be a cure, it will be in God's hands.

Dear Sis,
This is the same as my friend Tony's benign brain tumor.  He can't stand another operation since he has also had cardiac arrest and mini- strokes this past year.  He has determined to go the chemo and/or radiation route, as well.

Mom's infection continues to spread and I want to get her back to the hospital Monday, if possible.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom.  You will have my continued prayers for both of them.

Holy Father, we come once again before your throne of grace, making intercession for our dear sister Terry's mom and her friend whose body has been violated by a tumor.  Lord Christ, we humbly request that You alter the normal course of events and glorify Your Blessed Name by Your gracious acts of mercy and compassion.  Shine forth as the noonday sun.  Rise upon us- for we acknowledge that You are our light, our redemption, and our ever present help in the dark days of oppression.  We confess that You are good, and that your wisdom and knowledge are without equal.  Therefore, we put ourselves entirely, and utterly in Your Hands.  We cannot help ourselves, nor are we able; yet nothing is impossible with You.  We rest completely in Your Just and Righteous Providence.  Help us in our unbelief- we confess it! If we go down to the pit, we know that we shall rise again, and stand again in Your radiant presence.  Praise Your Holy Name.

I also lift up my friend Tony and his brain tumor.  You know his contented spirit and the faithful steadfastness of his precious wife Michelle.  I plead that you show mercy and extend his days with us, that his children may have him as they grow up before you, and that they might have the benefit of his example and counsel.

I also lift up my mother and her struggles to adjust to life without my Dad.  Be her ever- present friend and encouragement during the long and lonely nights when she misses the companionship of her mate.  Heal and refresh with a special anointing of Your Spirit.

I revel in the privilege and awesome power of Your Spirit and Presence.  The privilege we have as priests and intercessors- the incomparable riches of our inheritence in Jesus, our Lord.  We live and move, and have our being in Him, and will serve and honor Him throughout Eternity yet to come!  Hallelujah.

Glorify Your Name, and answer our prayers to that end, we pray.  In Jesus matchless Name.  Amen.

Had Mom to the emergency room 3 a.m. Tuesday with respiratory distress.  Had her back to the wound care center at the hospital Thursday and they admitted her to a private room in case her leg wound is MRSA.  She's being tested for bone cancer, skin cancer, and will be on IV antibiotics in isolation for several days.  We are also flooding again so please pray for the whole area as well as for Mom and my brother and I and that the floods don't take out the only road between our home and the hospital.

Very stressed, trying to hang on and pray.  Got to notify family as well. Can use all the help we can get!  God be with everyone.

Sis, you and yours are in my prayers.  Hang in there and let God work, just when you think He isn't going to do anything the blessings come.

Heavenly Father, I lift up Sis and her mom for healing and the whole family for peace and comfort.  Father, protect them from the flood waters and keep their roads open.  Fill them and heal them as only you can.  I pray in Jesus' name.  AMEN

"We have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet without sin."
Hebrews 4:15

How strong it makes us to know Jesus understands our struggles and gives us direction to guide us to the glory of God!

Lord God, Thank You.  Because You were tempted, You understand my struggles perfectly.  Direct my steps today.  Keep me walking in Your ways.  Father, Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.  Please keep me firmly on Your path, for Your glory and honor, Amen

We brought Mom home from the hospital on Monday.  After 5 days of IV antibiotics, her infection is much improved but far from cured.  It will take a very long time to cure this wound and the cellulitis that accompanies it.  There were three different kinds of bacteria found in the culture, but identifying them enabled the doctors to prescribe the right antibiotic.  It isn't MRSA so praise God for that, but the bacteria are still necrotizing so I have to apply the enzyme that eats away the dead tissue and rewrap the wound daily.  We still take her back to the hospital every Thursday to have any part of the infected tissue scraped away.  Mom has also irritated the nerves in her back and her knees trying to move around without putting weight on the injured leg so she is on steroids to reduce the inflammation.

Our whole family is still battling respiratory infections, probably having to do with contaminants in the air after all the flooding up here and the cutting of trees and the debris.  One day at a time, one prayer at a time!

Thank you all for the prayer support!  We can  use it!  Mom has some moments of depression but nothing extreme--anyone going through what she has since February would cry on and off, too.  It is difficult to not be able to do things for yourself, but I bought the two Comfort CDs that my old church in Philly produced, and the worship music, scripture readings, and prayers of the children and adults who all faced severe illness during the project are remarkably comforting.  Many of the participants went home to be with the Lord shortly after the project was completed, including the main guitarist/singer/producer who passed from an unexpected heart attack several months after the project while he was on tour.

Be God's!
