• NINERS SIGN CB Darcel McBath: SANTA CLARA (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have signed cornerback Darcel McBath to a one-year contract.
McBath was a second-round draft pick by Denver in 2009. He played 20 games for the Broncos and started once. He had 28 tackles, two interceptions, and four passes defensed.
McBath was released by the Broncos last September and played one game in December for Jacksonville before being cut earlier in the offseason.
The 49ers also announced linebacker Darius Fleming has been placed on the active/physically unable to perform list. Guard Joe Looney and running back Jewel Hampton have been placed on the active/non-football injury list.
• Raiders SEND WR Louis Murphy TO Panthers: ALAMEDA (AP) — The Oakland Raiders have traded wide receiver Louis Murphy to the Carolina Panthers for an undisclosed conditional draft choice.
Murphy made an immediate impact as Oakland’s fourth-round pick in 2009, catching 75 passes for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns in his first two seasons.
But Murphy was slowed by a groin injury last season and started only one game. He had 15 catches for 241 yards and became expendable when fifth-round pick Juron Criner and undrafted free agent Rod Streater passed him in offseason workouts.

• Yankees acquire OF Ichiro Suzuki from Mariners: SEATTLE (AP) — Ichiro Suzuki is headed to a new team and, after all these years, maybe a shot at playing in the World Series.
The New York Yankees acquired the star outfielder from the Seattle Mariners in a trade Monday for two young pitchers.
The Yankees, with the best record in the majors, also got cash in the deal that sent 25-year-old righties D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar to the last-place Mariners. The trade was announced a few hours before the Yankees played at Seattle.
The 38-year-old Suzuki had spent his whole big league career with Seattle. The 10-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner is batting .261 with four home runs, 28 RBIs and 15 stolen bases this year.
• OWNER OF CINCINNATI’S BIG RED MACHINE DIES AT 100: CINCINNATI (AP) — Louise Nippert, an owner of the Cincinnati Reds during the Big Red Machine era and a financial contributor to the Cincinnati arts scene, died Monday at age 100.
Nippert and her husband, Louis Nippert, bought majority control of the Reds in 1973 and owned the team when it featured greats including Johnny Bench and Joe Morgan and won World Series championships in 1975 and 1976.
