TEMPE, Ariz. -- Jim Thome went to the Phillies to try to win a World Series. Raul Ibanez went to the Yankees to try to win a World Series.

Torii Hunter understands.

Hunter's five-year deal with the Angels is up at the end of this year, and he repeated Tuesday that his top priority is to get a deal done that would keep him in Anaheim. But if he needs to move . . .

"Right now, I'm focused on winning," Hunter said. "Money? I've made money. I want a ring.

"Money has nothing to do with any decision I would make. I want a ring."

Hunter made $90 million on his current deal with the Angels. He has been to the postseason six times with the Twins and Angels, but has yet to play in a World Series.

Angels' Hunter: 'I want a ring'

He left the Twins when they had a good chance to get a ring because he wanted a boatload of $$$$. Good luck pal.

Angels' Hunter: 'I want a ring'

When are these players going to learn that fans are sick and tired of "money isn't the issue"....... Look, if you want to stay in Halo land, then sign a contract for $10mil per season, I'm sure they would be thrilled to have you on board.  But he won't, he is getting over a $90mil contract where, let's face it, his numbers are just average, not really worth the $90mil, maybe good for about $70mil.  So stop all the money talk Tori, if you want ot stay you have the power to stay there, but we all know you'll be loking for about $20mil per year on your new contract and honestly you aren't a $20mil per year player.

Angels' Hunter: 'I want a ring'

As soon as Hunter signed with the Angels his career began to nosedive. His best years were when he was Twin and once he got paid(18.5m this year)he became the picture of mediocrity.I know when he retires many will deem him worthy of the HOF, but I wont be one of them.Just because he's a hair better than Abrau & Wells doesn't mean he's a great player.Like most MLB players he took his game out of high gear as soon as he got paid. He's going to want to get another big payday so he probably will try & step his game up a bit this year.I hope he gets what he deserves;A career ending injury!

"Money? I've made money. I want a ring.  "Money has nothing to do with any decision I would make. I want a ring."  Really Torii you forgot rebuild the metrodome to your bucket list. What a joke, he loves the $ & can thank that silly homer dome for making his hitting stats what they were. Wonder what Vernon Wells wish list is besides $90,000,000?
