Which league is better? So far, it's even

As Scott Miller so ably points out in Weekend Buzz, interleague play is off to a blah start.

I'm with Scott. Interleague play needs changes.

But there is one thing I like about it. Interleague play, over the course of the full season, gives us 252 games' worth of evidence of which league is better.

For seven straight years, the American League has been better. For seven straight years, the American League has won more interleague games.

It feels like that's changing, but last year the AL won again, 134-118.

So maybe this is the year it changes. It felt that way Friday night, when the National League won nine of the 14 games.

By the end of the weekend, the count was even -- 21 wins for the AL, 21 wins for the NL.

So far, we've proven nothing.

Check back next month.

I love the DH rule.  It's great for baseball the way it made managerial decisions all but obsolete.  Why would any manager have to learn the intricacies of a double switch, or have to make a tough choice in a tight ballgame as to whether or not he should pinch hit for a pitcher that's throwing a gem.  I'm so in favor of the DH that I would like to propose Designated Runners because nobody should be subjected to having to watch the likes of David Ortiz run the basepaths.  Guys like Benjie Molina should focus more on their hitting than have to loosen up to run faster.  I mean, it's not fair that those poor guys can't steal bases.  We should allow someone to do it for them.  Juan Pierre could be a HOF'er as a DesRunner.  Oh, and we should also have Designated Fielders because it's a cryin shame that smooth fielders that hit .176 in Single A ball can't get a job in the majors.  Imagine a lineup that could feature Matt Holliday's bat and Rajai Davis's glove or better yet, Mike Piazza's offensive numbers with the ability to keep Henry Blanco behind the plate.  And I have ALL KINDS of ideas for a Designated Pitcher too so don't get me started on THAT!!!

That's just a hint of sarcasm for those that didn't catch it.
