After trading for Ryan Garko on Monday night, the Giants are determined to add another hitter, and Pirates second baseman Freddy Sanchez remains atop their list.

Sources said that while the teams were still talking about a possible deal today, the Giants have some concerns about Sanchez's sore left knee and the Pirates continue to talk to other teams.

It's not Sanchez or nothing for the Giants, who also continue to watch Toronto's Marco Scutaro and Kansas City's Mark Teahen, sources say.

Sanchez hasn't played since Sunday. With the Pirates in San Francisco this week, he has already been examined by the Giants doctors, but it's expected they will look at him again before signing off on the trade. Sanchez told reporters that he doesn't expect to play until Friday.

The Twins have also shown interest in Sanchez.

Giants focus on Sanchez

Now I can see why the Blue Jays never contend in the AL East......it's easy for their management to trot garbage out there and lie to them all about "upside."  Look, guys that have played in the majors for a few years ARE WHAT THEY ARE.  They may occasionally have a good year, even a career year, but the player WILL ALWAYS be close to his career numbers.  It's not "critics" that are saying the Blue Jays don't have any talent, it's major league scouts, whose JOB it is to SCOUT TALENT, that are saying that.  The 49-51 record speaks for itself, and that's with the best pitcher in baseball.  At this VERY MOMENT, the Blue Jays aren't contending with Halladay.  At this VERY MOMENT the infield is a bunch of washed-up cast-offs from other teams.  At this VERY MOMENT the Blue Jays are relying on starting pitching in the rotation.  Those aren't the ingredients of a contending team and it has nothing to do with the "critics."

Garbage????  Is having the starting 2nd baseman from the AL at the all-star game garbage?  Is having the potential rookie of the yr who has to pitch in the AL east garbage????  Is having our full time DH who's only in his 2nd full yr in the majors almost getting voted on to the all-star team as a last minute replacement garbage as well????  If these are the kind of lies you're telling yourself that's pretty sad.

As for Halladay, he's not worth the price Toronto is asking.  I don't care of it's Cy Young himself, you don't give up your entire future for a ONE AND A HALF YEAR RENTAL.  Halladay is better than any pitcher in baseball, but Jays fans seem to think he invented the art of pitching.  There are other pitchers comparable to him (Sabathia, Santana) that didn't fetch the RIDICULOUS asking price Ricciardi has put on Halladay.  So enjoy trying to win next year, you'll see what I'm talking about in 2011, when the Jays don't re-sign Halladay, they get nothing for him, and they still aren't contending.  Ricciardi is going to put the Jays in a hole for the next 5 years because he's clearly incompetent.

Funny how trading 3 guys in one deal is selling the farm (Happ, Drabek and Brown for Halladay) when in reality you would've only been giving up 2 prospects and a pitcher off of the major league roster, that would've been replaced with Halladay anyways.  That still would've left u guys with Mayberry Jr, Carrasco, Donald, Knapp, Taylor and Marson left, so tell me again how that's selling the farm?????  That's what i thought, just pure greed and an unwilling desire to get as much as u can for as little as u can.  Well at least it was the Indians stupid enough to fall for that kind of propaganda and not the Jays.  Not to mention look at what the Giants gave up for Sanchez????  Timothy Alderson a future ace, so the least any team trading for Halladay could've done was offer more than that.
